This method is more accurate than pH testing or the amine test, but it requires some expertise and proper laboratory equipment. So, it's usually done in a healthcare setting rather than at home.
4. Molecular Testing
Molecular testing is a relatively new and advanced method for detecting BV. It works by detecting the DNA or RNA of the bacteria associated with BV. This method is highly sensitive and specific, which means it can accurately identify the presence of BV - causing bacteria even in very small amounts.
There are different types of molecular tests, such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests. These tests can be done in a laboratory using specialized equipment. They're more expensive and time - consuming compared to the other methods, but they offer a very high level of accuracy.
