HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is a hormone secreted by placental trophoblast cells. It is found in high levels in the blood and urine of women in the early stages of pregnancy, so it is widely used for early pregnancy testing.

6-7 days after fertilization, the embryo implants in the endometrium, and the placenta begins to secrete HCG.

Positive: The presence of two red lines in both the test region (T) and the control region (C) means that you are probably pregnant. One line may be lighter than the other. A false-negative result can happen under the following situation:

● Using a urine sample collected after your first morning urine

● Taking the test before there's enough hCG to produce a positive result

● Miscalculating the timing of your missed period
