Specimen Collection
1. When sampling, make sure the urine cup is clean to avoid contamination of the sample.
2. Keep your urine sample as fresh as possible.
3. If specimens are to be transported, they should be packaged in accordance with local regulations governing the transport of pathogens.
Test Procedure
Allow test cassette and Antigen extract buffer control to equilibrate to room temperature (15-30°C) prior to testing 1. Remove the test cassette from the sealed foil pouch and use it as soon as possible. Best results will be obtained if the assay is performed within one hour. 2. Place the test device on a clean and level surface. 3. Use the provided dropper to draw the urine sample, and then add 3 drops of the urine sample into the sample well (avoid air bubbles). Then start the timer. 4. Wait for the result. The result should be read within 15 minutes. Do not read the result after 30 minutes.
Interpretation of Results:
NEGATIVE:
If only the C band is present, the absence of any burgundy color in the 2 band and 1 band indicates that no HIV-1/2 Antibody is detected in the specimen. The result is negative.
POSITIVE:
In addition to the presence of C band, if band T is developed, the test indicates for the presence of HIV antibody in the specimen.
All the situations above show the result is HIV positive.
INVALID:
Control line fails to appear. Insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedural techniques are the most likely reasons for control line failure. Review the procedure and repeat the test with a new test cassette. If the problem persists, discontinue using the test kit immediately and contact your local distributor.
LIMITATIONS
1. Use fresh samples whenever possible.
2. Optimal assay performance requires strict adherence to the assay procedure described in this insert sheet. Deviations may lead to aberrant results.
3. A negative result can occur if the quantity of the HIV-1/2 antibody present in the specimen is below the detection limits of the assay, or failed to collect the HIV-1/2 antibody in the urine of the patient.
4. As with all diagnostic tests, a definitive clinical diagnosis should not be based on the result of a single test, but should only be made by the physician after all clinical and laboratory findings have been evaluated.
