Result Interpretation
NEGATIVE:
If only the C band is present, the absence of any burgundy color in the 2 band and 1 band indicates that no HIV-1/2 Antibody is detected in the specimen. The result is negative.
POSITIVE:
In addition to the presence of C band, if band 1 is developed, the test indicates for the presence of HIV-1 antibody in the specimen.
In addition to the presence of C band, if band 2 is developed, the test indicates for the presence of HIV-2 antibody in the specimen.
In addition to the presence of C band, if both band 1 and band 2 are developed, the test indicates for the presence of HIV-1 antibody and HIV-2 antibody in the specimen.
All the situations above show the result is HIV positive.
INVALID:
Control line fails to appear. Insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedural techniques are the most likely reasons for control line failure. Review the procedure and repeat the test with a new test cassette. If the problem persists, discontinue using the test kit immediately and contact your local distributor.
